Aqua Boom celebrates its 41st year in 2010! Our Second Annual Barbeque Cook-off will hopefully expand to include a sanctioned Chili Cook-off. The Grande Finale will include our fabulous fireworks, music and lots of family fun! The parade is an annual event and consists of generally 150 entries. The number of spectators over the years has ranged from of 5,000 to 70,000. Parade entries include marching bands to exotic automobiles, military color guards to clowns, and dignitaries to unique presentations. Of course, the parade has a distinguished assortment of floats. Some floats are professionally built, but many are the proud results of individual ingenuity by local organizations and businesses. There is even an Award Ceremony after the parade at Knapp Heritage Park to recognize excellence within each of several categories. Refer to our rules and regulations for a complete list of categories. We hope that you will join us for the 43rd annual parade on Friday, July 4th at 9:00 a.m., for the 2008 edition of USA's Independence Day Parade in downtown Arlington.

Broadway Festivals, Inc. is proud to present the 19th annual 4th On Broadway Celebration. This free, outdoor family event celebrates unique musical cultures, artistic dynamism and diversity of the South Plains. Much to the delight of the festival organizers, the event attracts in excess of 200,000 people from Lubbock, Eastern New Mexico and other parts of Texas. Since it’s birth 19 years ago, this event has come to be known as, “the largest free festival in Texas,” and has been named, “Best Promotional Event,” by the Texas Downtown association. This popular community-wide celebration features exciting events for children and adults of all ages including an Independence Day Parade, street fair and an evening concert ending with a fantastic firework display. The focus is musical outreach. Don Caldwell Productions will carefully select more than 500 local artists to showcase their musical talent on 11 different stages throughout downtown Lubbock. Each stage will have performances from several different musical genres including a fiesta stage, eclectic stage, country stage and gospel stage. The Fourth on Broadway musical presentations are an outstanding opportunity to introduce children and families to a variety of musical venues.

The Big Spring Pops in the Park program is held annually at the Historic Comanche Trail Amphitheater in Comanche Trail Park. The Program includes a patriotic concert presented by the Big Spring Symphony Orchestra and Chorus which is coordinated with a spetacular fireworks display. Gates open at 5:00 p.m. and Food Booths offering a variety of food open at 5:00 p.m. The program is opened with the Parade of Flags grand entry at 8:30 p.m. and the event ends with the fireworks display and concert.

The San Angelo Symphony is proud to announce Multi-Chem as the 2010 title sponsor of its 23rd annual July 3rd concert. This celebration brings together over 35,000 people from as far away as Houston, Dallas, and Austin and is known as the fourth largest celebration of its kind in the State of Texas with continued support of a fireworks extravaganza sponsored by Town & Country and Stripes Food Stores. The free, family-friendly patriotic celebration includes music performed by the San Angelo Symphony, a parade of flags by active military stationed at Goodfellow Air Force Base, the historic Fort Concho cannons, and a military flyover. Rosenberg's Family Fourth Celebration is all about patriotism, family and fun, from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. July 4th. The event is held at Seabourne Creek Park located at 3831 Highway 36 South in Rosenberg. There is no admission to Family 4th and activities include a children's carnival, dunking booth, Clydesdale-drawn wagon rides, food vendors and a free concert by The Triumphs, an eight piece, Rosenberg-based band that traces its roots to the early days of rock 'n roll when the band launched the career of 5-time Grammy award winner B.J. Thomas. Since 1992, the band's original members (minus B.J. Thomas), have been performing hits from the '50s and '60s and transporting audiences back to the glory days of rock and roll. Fourth of July Celebration on the Neches River offers a rollicking salute to our nation's past with events that include local musical groups performing at 6 p.m and an 8 p.m. Concert by the Symphony of Southeast Texas. The orchestra will perform aboard a barge anchored in the Neches River as the audience savors the music from the park's grassy knoll. At 9 p.m., fireworks explode in the sky while the explosive and dramatic delight to eye and ear continues for about 30 minutes. Food and beverage booths are set up only in the park.

The Mimir Chamber Music Festival, named for the Norse god of wisdom, features outstanding artists from the world's leading orchestras and music schools who share a love for chamber music. Mimir is the premiere Festival in the South Central United States dedicated exclusively to the study and performance of chamber music. Artists are selected not only for their superb performing skills, but also for their ability to teach. Throughout the two-week Festival, guest artists hold master classes for aspiring pre-professional musicians, selected for participation through a rigorous audition process. In the evenings, guest artists present a series of five exciting and distinctly different musical performances. The 2010 season marks the 13th Year of the Mimir Chamber Music Festival. Founded in 1997, the Festival is hosted by the TCU School of Music on the university's beautiful campus in Fort Worth, Texas. Concerts take place at the Walsh Center for Performing Arts in the PepsiCo Recital Hall, an intimate setting, perfect for enjoying the art of chamber music. This year's exceptional guest artists include members of the Chicago Symphony and Cleveland Orchestra, award winning concert and recording artists, outstanding TCU faculty and other internationally acclaimed musicians.

Concerts Under the Stars showcases popular musicians in the beautiful surroundings of the San Antonio Botanical Garden. The 2010 national Tejano music convention, the largest Latin music convention in the United States, serves as an industry and fan-based "meeting ground" bringing together national Tejano enthusiasts for the expressed purpose of music and dance appreciation. The event features performances by Tejano and conjunto veterans Gary Hobbs, Ram Herrera, Jay Perez, Hometown Boys, Elida Reyna and many others. It will also mark the reunion of '90s group Fandango USA. Comedians Willie Barcena and Gilbert Esquivel are set to serve as hosts. The vision of the Tejano Music Convention is to advance the Tex-Mex music genre by fostering the music industry to become more viable and strong, while increasing the understanding of the rich variety, artistic value, cultural, and historical significance of Tejano Music.

The Parker County Peach Festival is a country day of family fun, featuring more than 215 arts and craft vendors. The event will take place in Weatherford's historic downtown, from 8 am to 5 pm. The Woody Guthrie Folk Festival is held annually in mid-July to commemorate the life and music of Woody Guthrie in Guthrie's hometown of Okemah, Oklahoma located 70 miles east of Oklahoma City. Daytime main performances are held indoors at the Brick Street Cafe and at the Crystal Theater. Evening main stage performances are held outdoors at the Pastures of Plenty. Guthrie's sister, Mary Jo Guthrie Edgmon, is the festival's perennial guest of honor. The festival also includes childrens' activities, poetry readings, and a variety of other things to do and see. Except for a $10 parking fee at the Pastures of Plenty, the festival is FREE. The event is made possible in part from a grant from the Oklahoma Arts Council.

Since Waylon and Willie put Luckenbach on the map as a must-see music venue, it has time and again been rated as the #1 dance hall in Texas. By hosting Thomas Michael Riley's 3rd Annual Music Festival July 16, 17 and 18th, Luckenbach honors his distinctive Americana songwriting and vocal skills. TMR has been nominated for three 2010 Texas Music Awards: Entertainer of the year, Song of the Year, and Album of the Year, and is a past recipient of two "Hill Country Entertainer of the Year" awards, and Texas Music Magazine's finalist for "Best in Texas". There will be continuous live music from Fri., July 16, 7-midnight, Sat. 2-midnight, and Sun. beginning at noon. The weekend entry fee is $25 pp, and Billy Joe Shaver and Gary P. Nunn will headline on Fri. and Sat. nights respectively. Join us as "Everybody is Somebody at Luckenbach."

We are making plans for our 23rd Camp Bluegrass July 19-24, 2009 at South Plains College in Levelland, Texas! We have several special themes this year. The faculty will include three Bluegrass legends: Roland White, Eddie Adcock and Dale Morris. These legendary performers are important figures in Bluegrass music history and will be featured in a special legends performance during the week. Don't miss the opportunity to study with these great musicians. Registrations are coming everyday so hurry and reserve your place at this years camp. Beth Mead, the new SPC banjo instructor will direct our youth track this year. Students from age 12-16 (with parental involvement as described at website) will attend special ensemble classes and other special activities in addition to regular instrument instruction classes. 2009 Instructors are: Banjo - Eddie Adcock, Bill Evans, Gerald Jones and Alan Munde; Guitar - Tim May, Dan Miller and Adam Granger; Mandolin - Roland White, Steve Smith and Joe Carr; Fiddle - Dale Morris and Ed Marsh; Dobro - Steve Williams; Vocal - Dede Wyland; Bass - Bill Honker; Kid's camp - Beth Mead; Swing and Jazz Guitar - Slim Richey. The Old Mobeetie Music Festival is a family-oriented three-day music jamboree with stage shows as well as "shade-tree pickin" around the camp sites. Camping in the rough is available along with over 100 electrical hookups. The Old Mobeetie Jail Museum is open to visitors during the festival. Performers include local bluegrass bands as well as musicians from the surring states. Salado Legends: central Texas' favorite outdoor musical drama! Tablerock's Amphitheater is where history, legend and memories meet. An original song, "Be Careful What You Wish For," weaves the legends of the Tonkawa Indians, the dreams of Spanish explorers, and the hopes of the Scottish settlers into a panoramic tale. Written by Salado playwright / lyricist Jackie Mills, music by local composers, directed by Donnie Williams and featuring a cast and crew of more than 100.
